Resist and Roll Back CAA NPR NRC

HOME Minister Amit Shah has just announced on the floor of Parliament that no person will be declared a Doubtful citizen during the NPR process. The announcement proves that the ongoing movement had good reason to resist the CAA-NRC-NPR.  Shah's words are deliberately misleading. The process of marking persons as Doubtful happens after the NPR process, as the NPR data is used to prepare the NRC. Further, Shah's words in Parliament have no legal standing. To give Shah's assurance legal standing, Parliament must amend the CAA Rules to omit all references to NPR and "doubtful citizens".

The Government must immediately stall the NPR process, all the more so in view of the Coronavirus crisis, and come up with necessary legal notifications to remove all the objectionable provisions and features of NPR. CPIML appeals to the people to not comply with the NPR process till these demands are met and to continue to exert pressure on the government for a complete rollback of the #CAA_NRC_NPR project.
